Winter Celebration 2018

I know that many of us are impatiently waiting for the warm weather, sunshine glow and fun summer activities. Nonetheless, if you are in a place where the winter season is much longer than its summer (like on this side of the world) then find things in your city that can excite you.

The annual Winter Celebration that takes place at Rideau Hall (the official residence of the Governor General) happened this past weekend. It was my first time going to the Winter Celebration here in Ottawa. And I’m happy to report that my inner child is still alive! We had so much fun. There were activities for everyone, including skating, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, tasting traditional foods from other wintry countries, drinking hot chocolate and loading up on that sugar with seasonal treats like the poor man’s pudding. Also, scheduled tours of the Mansion and probably my favourite (fairytale-like) adventure is riding the wagon! Whaa!

This was the perfect Winter Celebration where we got to embrace and celebrate different cultures in a winter wonderland sitting. So, wherever you are, try to find out what’s happening in your city and don’t let these events pass you by! They bring joy and warmth in the midst of winter 🙂
