From India with Love 2: Surprise Date at Gaj Mahotsav

I have fun planning spontaneous dates around the world (at least when we travel). On some occasions (if not all) these are dates of places or things that I really want to do but won’t tell the husband so he can’t really say no. You see what I did there, haha. 😉

Since the day we booked my flight I’ve been on the search for an Elephant sanctuary or a conservation and care centre. Unfortunately, there are none around New Delhi. So, on my third morning here at the Imperial hotel I saw the “Gaj Mahotsav” exhibition at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts. A 3-day event to commemorate World Elephant Day, show their salient role in ecology and their integral part in religion, mythology and literature. The festival featured baby elephant sized sculptures that were beautifully dressed and vibrantly painted. Despite the heat and humidity, I loved it and so glad that Peter did too! A win-win situation. 🙂

Have you been to an Elephant Sanctuary or a Wildlife SOS? If so, where?
