As the face and voice behind Dalia’s delights, my mission is to use this platform to share travel, adventure, style and cultural experiences that can inspire you. With every published story, you will learn that I am a nomad at heart, my embedded appreciation for an adventurous life is boundless. Join me here while I use photography for storytelling, capture life’s daily delights and share fun and meaningful stories that allow for enriching discoveries.

As an aspiring humanitarian, I attained my LLM – International Law and International Relations in 2015. My passion for working in the humanitarian field started at a very young age; my love for people, equality, children and giving a helping hand are things that rejuvenate my soul.

I was born in Khartoum, to a Sudanese father  (descended from Coptic immigrants from Egypt to Sudan) and Russian mother (Orsk, South of Ural Mountains and close to City of Orenburg), who met in St. Petersburg during their university studies. My three siblings (Robert, Christina and Thomas) and I were raised in North Africa/Middle East (Sudan, Libya, Syria) before immigrating to Canada in 2003. My bi-national background and exposure to different cultures and countries make me a 100% third culture kid who relates to most of the 31 Signs You’re A Third Culture Kid. Also, I am the 2nd child of four and quite lucky to have my siblings with whom I share such a special bond – they’ll definitely make an appearance on Dalia’s delights.

My husband, Peter (who will also be featured on here) and I met and fell in love in Brussels while we were both pursuing our Masters degrees. He is Polish – that’s another origin to add to the mix – and has also lived in Sri Lanka, South Korea and Dubai. We tied the knot in July 2017, I joined him & moved to a new city, Ottawa, and starting our life together, inspired me to start this blog.

That’s a recap of where I come from and why I am here. My love for family, cultures, travel and effortless fusions of style are essential to living life confidently and to the fullest. I hope you enjoy the ride with me 🙂
