We have love for small, quaint, local, indie, cafes – where we like to spend our Saturdays. The more authentic the interior of the cafe, the more I like it. When I was in Europe many of my friends including my husband liked to study at cafes, not me. I liked to study in my own quiet space with a cactus on my desk and natural sun rays coming through the window. However, now our leisurely cafe runs are exactly what we like to do on a Saturday afternoon. My husband likes to enjoy reading the New York Times and I usually have a book. Also, while he’s really into his newspaper I always find a moment or two to interrupt his reading with random thoughts, ideas and quotes to chat him up every 5 minutes (when you miss your love while s/he right in front of you haha!) 😉
I admittedly have conflicting thoughts when I walk into a cafe and see everybody is on their laptops. It’s great that we are able to work remotely and take our home/work with us anywhere, but are we also slowly withdrawing from human interaction? What are your thoughts on this?
Either way, it’s a great public space where we can enjoy doing work individually or with a friend and/or socialize, read a good book, share thoughts and just enjoy the moment with a good cup of coffee 🙂 . I rotate my choice of beverage from coffee to matcha (my forever favourite)!
Here are a few links to my favourite cafes in Ottawa and ones that we go to regularly:
- Le Moulin de Provence
- HeadQuarters
- Ministry of Coffee
- Black Squirrel Books
- Bar Robo
- Arlington Five
- Planet Coffee
- Blue Bird
- Eve Cafe (Simons)

- Morala Cafe
Happy Saturday, loves!
